Get Ready For Some Top Performances At Classical Classic!

The first state qualifier of the outdoor season will be held on Saturday with the annual Classical Classic, which this year will be sponsored by HOKA and Marathon Sports. With the meet acting as the first qualifier for the State Meet in two months, plenty of athletes will be vying for top performances at Conley Stadium.

At last year’s meet, Portsmouth grad and current American College freshman Kaden Kluth and Cranston West’s Ailani Sutherland earned MVP honors for boys and girls by capturing multiple events. Kluth won the 1,500-meter run (3, minutes, 56.95 seconds), 800m (1:56.30) and anchored the first-place 4x400m (3:35.65). Sutherland took care of the sprints with victories in the 100m (12.57), 200m (26.15) and with her leg on the triumphant 4x100m team (48.67).

Once we receive the Performance List, we’ll preview some of the top events to watch at this weekend’s meet. Ocean State Running will be on site to cover all the action. We’ll also be at Conley selling meet T-shirts and OSR gear. Cash and credit will be accepted.
