Memorable Moments, 2023: Von Housen Captures 3K At States

Based on what we’ve seen this past year, most notably the outdoor season, you have to include Erin von Housen in the conversation when talking about the top contenders for the cross-country title in the upcoming fall season. The soon-to-be senior from Chariho High had a superlative spring campaign where she had all-time bests for the 800m, 1,500m, 3K, and her newest event, the 2K steeplechase. While the Charger standout broke the state mark in the steeplechase at the New Balance Nationals where she ran 6 minutes, 56.63 seconds, we’re listing her big win at the State Meet as the most memorable. In one of the coldest championship meets in state history, von Housen was at her best, winning her first individual title with a time of 10:05.31, a PR by 18 seconds!
