Not many track & field athletes could match a month quite like Lisa Raye did in June.
West Warwick’s standout sprinter/hurdler captured four gold medals at the State Meet on June 3 with victories in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the 100m and 300m hurdles. A week later it was three more wins at the New England’s with tape-breakers in the 100m, 200m and 300m IH. Raye didn’t disappoint at the New Balance Nationals in mid June, too, by making the top of the podium in the Freshmen 100m and 200m, She concluded the month with a pair of triumphs in the age 15-16 100m and 200m at the USATF-New England Junior Olympic Championships. Not to be forgotten from these competitions, Raye racked up a number of meet and state records.
For all she accomplished in a hugely-successful month, Raye was recently recognized by USATF-NE as its Female Athlete of the Month. Congratulations, Lisa, on a well-deserved honor.
