Thompson Achieves Gold In Pentathlon At Bethel (CT) Invite

Sierra Thompson proved on Saturday what most already knew about the South Kingstown senior.

She’s multi-talented when it comes to track & field.

Thompson demonstrated her versatility at the Bethel (CT) Pentathlon, Pole Vault and Distance Invitational by capturing the overall title with a new state record of 3,124 points. Her total was more than 500 points ahead of the runner-up finisher, Allison Vigue of Coginchaug (CT), who scored 2,581 points.

Thomson won three events, taking the high jump (1.52 meters), long jump (5.20m) and the shot (8.99m). She was also second in the 55-meter hurdles (8.99 seconds) and third in the 800m (2:37.19).

With her effort, Thompson easily qualified for the New Balance Nationals Indoor Championships and the Nike Indoor Nationals.
