Locals Among Top Finishers At Woods Trail Run

The Ocean State had a strong presence in Vermont over the weekend at the annual Woods Trail Run.

East Greenwich and Barrington both placed among the top five teams in the boys’ race of Saturday’s meet, held on a challenging five-kilometer terrain at Thetford Academy. The Avengers finished second to the host state’s St. Johnsbury with 123 points, The Eagles were fifth with 219 points.

East Greenwich’s scoring runners included Luke Allen (ninth, 17 minutes, 6.4 seconds), David Hayes (tenth, 17:08.98), Brody Fahys (19th, 17:28.65), Andrew Parisi (31st, 17:47.12) and James Maraccio (58th, 18:27.04). As a team, the Avengers averaged 17:35 on the difficult layout. For Barrington, Myles Napolitano led all RI entries by placing eighth overall among the nearly 600 finishers with a time of 17:06.41. He was followed by Connor Curran (35th, 17:48.47), Colby Napolitano (18:10.74), Neal Bansal (61st, 18:34.35) and Daniel Chun (75th, 18:48.98).

In the girls’ competition, East Greenwich was fifth (225 points), Moses Brown was tenth (307 points) and Barrington was 12th (356 points).

The Avengers averaged 22:07 by their scoring five with Olive Willis (21st, 21:05.39), Alison Walsh (30th, 21:25.89), Emily Clarke (49th, 22:08.71), Lindsay Han (22:10.40) and Kayla Sledliski (95th, 23:40.76) occupying those positions.

The Eagles’ Evelyn Lefort was 11th in the field of 383 with a time of 20:30.43. The Quakers’ top finisher was Akayla Siddiqi. She was 34th overall in 21:32.07.
