It was yet another eventful season for our RI track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Ocean State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. Here we feature La Salle’s Eamon O’Brien.
Prior to the indoor track & field season, the Rams’ talented middle-distance specialist had a best of 2 minutes, 12 seconds for the 800-meter run. A lot changed for O’Brien in the months ahead. Besides being part of a two state-record relay squads this past spring (Sprint Medley and 4x400m), the La Salle junior was also our state’s best in the 800m, winning the two-lapper at the Class A Championships and the State Meet. But the highlight of his season came on May 2 when O’Brien produced an all-time best of 1:52.81 to win the inaugural BSR Elite Scholastic 800m, an event that was part of the NH Distance Festival and featured some of the region’s best.
