Laces Tied, Trails Await: XC Season Kicks Off On Aug. 18 (Schedule)

It’s only a matter of time before the school grounds and nearby parks fill with our local harriers. Cross‑country practice officially begins on Monday, August 18.

The annual Injury Fund XC Carnival at Deerfield Park will launch competition l2 days later on Aug. 30. Below is a tentative schedule of the fall campaign, which includes a few popular out-of-state competitions, such as the Bowdoin Park Invitational (Sept. 29), Great American XC Invitational (Oct. 3, 4), and the Manhattan College Invitational (Oct. 11). We’ll add more meets to the schedule as information becomes available.

New this year: high school races have been added to the 24th annual Shawn M. Nassaney XC Invitational on Sept. 6 at Bryant University. This meet honors the former Saint Raphael Academy and Bryant standout who tragically lost his life in the 9/11 attacks

And of course, don’t miss one of the region’s premier events: the Ocean State Invitational (Sept. 23, 24), presented by Marathon  Sports, the event’s title sponsor.
