Hawks Roll to Shore Coaches Title; Barrington Shines At Woods Trail Run

Bishop Hendricken didn’t get the dream matchup it had hoped for Saturday.

The Hawks did, however, leave one of the nation’s toughest five-kilometer courses with a satisfying—and impressive—victory at the Shore Coaches Invitational.

Led by a 1-2 finish from Colby Flynn and Shepherd Butler, Hendricken scored just 32 points to capture the team title at Holmdel Park in New Jersey. Greenwich was a distant second with 132 points, while perennial New Jersey powerhouse Christian Brothers Academy finished third with 156.

CBA, ranked No. 2 in the Northeast, held out its top varsity runners, denying the Hawks the head-to-head test against the Colts they had been hoping for.

Hendricken placed all five of its scorers among the top 12, with just 42 seconds separating its first and fifth runners. Flynn and Butler were among just four runners to break 16 minutes on the challenging 5K course, finishing in 15:41.68 and 15:43.85, respectively.

Oliver Redmond placed eighth in 16:23.25, followed by Andrew Williams in ninth in 16:23.25 and Luke Tremble in 12th in 16:33.63 to complete the scoring for the Hawks.

It marked the second consecutive victory for both Hendricken and Flynn, who each won last weekend at the Bowdoin Park XC Classic
