The Avengers appear to be hitting their stride.
For the second straight week, the East Greenwich boys delivered a strong performance at a regional competition, earning runner-up honors in the Medium School race at Saturday’s 43rd annual Wickham Park Invitational.
The Avengers totaled 82 points to claim the silver medal, finishing 37 points behind team champion Xavier, currently the No. 1 boys’ squad in Connecticut. The result mirrored East Greenwich’s performance a week earlier, when it placed second overall at the Maine Festival of Champions.
In the girls’ Large School race, North Kingstown also finished second overall. The Skippers scored 57 points, 47 behind Glastonbury, the top-ranked girls’ program in Connecticut.

Once again, senior Andrew Parisi led the charge for East Greenwich. Tackling Wickham Park’s challenging 5K course, which features a steep incline near the two-mile mark known as the “Green Monster,” Parisi placed third overall in 16:33.0. Junior Quinn Connolly followed in eighth at 16:51.5.
The Avengers’ remaining scorers were juniors Jeremiah Moon (15th, 17:02.1) and Nathan Malafronte (28th, 17:25.5), along with John Lehmann (30th, 17:26.0). East Greenwich recently finished second in the Suburban Division with a 9-1 record.
For North Kingstown, junior teammates Lucy Stowe and Abby Tighe cracked the top 10, placing fourth in 19:05.9 and sixth in 19:14.1, respectively. The Skippers’ remaining scorers were senior Maura Whitney (22nd, 20:32.4), sophomore Avery Tighe (37th, 21:08.1) and sophomore Mackenzie Baker (38th, 21:08.4).
East Greenwich placed fifth in the girls’ Medium School race with 149 points, just nine points separating the third- through fifth-place teams. Mercy of Connecticut captured the team title with 62 points.
Senior Kayla Siedliski led the Avengers with a third-place finish in 19:52.9. Freshman Julia Fuimarello placed 24th in 21:07.6, followed by Violet Thakuria (30th, 21:46.1), freshman Emme Toce (42nd, 22:41.1) and senior Kelsey Tella-Torilli (75th, 23:56.8).
