Barrington will have a lot of new faces on its varsity squad after losing four of its top five to graduation. Still, the Eagles have a good shot at making the top six, thanks to their depth.
With a solid group of returnees and a few strong additions, Barrington could be battling St. Ray’s for the crucial sixth spot at the State Meet. Leading the charge for the Eagles is junior Coilby Napoliatano, who finished 27th at last year’s championship meet with a personal record of 16:52.05. Senior teammates Neal Bansal and Vlad Horvatic are two other key runners who should provide strength up front. Bansal was 19th overall at the Class B meet, posting a best time of 17:45.70, while Horvatic clocked in at 17:52.78.
This is a close-knit group, and Barrington has a few other runners who are expected to be part of the varsity crew and show significant improvement this season. Among them is sophomore Sam Spencer, who comes in with a personal best of 18:53.84. As a freshman, Spencer also posted a 9:32.57 in the 3K during the outdoor season. The Eagles also have sophomores Ryan Hurlock and Rowan Knight, along with junior Henry Humphries—each of whom has run under 19 minutes and can help fill in the gaps.
