We’re just a few harriers away from wrapping up our Runners To Watch series. Trust us, we know there are plenty more, but with the league season kicking off this week, it’s time to shift gears.
Hendricken’s Brayden Seraichyk makes the cut after a solid cross-country season last fall—and a promising start to his most recent campaign on the dirt trails.

The talented senior was the No. 5 runner for the state-titlist Hawks last fall after placing 26th overall. We’re predicting he’ll make some big gains in his final year as a high schooler. After an outdoor season where he achieved a 13-second best for the 1,500-meter run—a 4:03.58 effort at the State Meet—Seraichyk has given early-season indication that he could be on to something special this time around in cross country. He ran the fourth-fastest time at the Injury Fund Carnival on Aug. 30 and recently kicked off the league season by finishing as the No. 2 runner for the Hawks in their Suburban Division opener on Monday, where he clocked a PR of 15:48 for the 5K course at Goddard Park.
Hendricken, the odds-on favorite to win the team title at this year’s states, has a few more that could make this list, particularly Fred Russell and East Greenwich transfer David Hayes. Look for all to make an impact, with Seraichyk right there among them.
