The changes in the rankings continue in Week 3 of our Power Rankings.
The one spot that remains untouched — and doesn’t appear to be in danger anytime soon — is our No. 1 position. Bishop Hendricken has held the top spot since our preseason rankings. The Hawks had another strong showing at a top regional meet, placing third at the Shores Coaches Invitational against New Jersey powerhouses Christian Brothers Academy and La Salle College.

Cumberland, which has posted several impressive performances in recent weeks at the Manchester Invitational (NH) and the Bowdoin Classic (NY), swapped places with La Salle, moving up to No. 2 and dropping the Rams to No. 3. The Clippers did not compete this past weekend but continue to look strong in league competition. In a Northern Division sweep over North Smithfield, Smithfield, and Blackstone Valley Prep, the gap between their No. 1 and No. 5 runners was just 45 seconds — an encouraging sign of depth.
Another team demonstrating strength through pack running is North Kingstown, which flip-flopped with Barrington to move into the No. 4 spot. In its] double win over Chariho and Westerly, Gavin Shipperley won the race in 16:34.90. Even more impressive, the gap between the Skippers’ next nine runners was less than a minute, beginning at 17:03.
Portsmouth and Chariho also traded places at seven and eight, with the Patriots moving up. East Greenwich, Smithfield, and Pilgrim held steady at sixth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
