
It’s mid-May.
We all know what that means.
Championship time has arrived in Rhode Island.
It all begins Saturday when teams from across the state compete in their respective divisional championships. Four meets, four venues and plenty at stake as athletes continue their preparation for the Class Championships and the State Meet, both just a few weeks away.

Northern Division Championships — Ponaganset
The shot put and hammer throw begin at 9 a.m., with all other field events scheduled for 10 a.m. Track events are set to start at 11 a.m.
Teams competing in the Northern Division are Ponaganset, Lincoln, Smithfield, North Smithfield, Woonsocket, Scituate, St. Raphael Academy, Burrillville, Cumberland, Johnston, Central Falls and North Providence.
Southern Division Championships — Coventry
The boys discus and girls pole vault begin at 9:30 a.m. All remaining field events start at 10 a.m., while track events are scheduled for 11 a.m.
Teams competing in the Southern Division are North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Narragansett, Westerly, Chariho, Prout School, Exeter/West Greenwich, East Greenwich and Coventry.
Central Division Championships — Cranston West
All field events begin at noon, with track events scheduled for 1 p.m.
Teams competing in the Central Division are Achievement First, Bishop Hendricken, Central, Classical, Cranston East, Cranston West, Hope, Juanita Sanchez, La Salle Academy, Moses Brown, Mount Pleasant, Paul Cuffee, Pilgrim and Toll Gate.
Eastern Division Championships — Barrington
Field events begin at noon and track events start at 1 p.m.
Teams competing in the Eastern Division are Barrington, Bay View, East Providence, Middletown, Mount Hope, Portsmouth, PCD/Lincoln School and Rogers.
