Adrian Martinez Invitational Features Former High School Stars

After a four-year hiatus, the Adrian Martinez Classic is back this weekend and Bay State Running will be there to capture it all.

BSR will record Saturday’s meet, which includes high-performance men’s and women’s races that features top-class elite runners competing in the 800-meter run, 1,500m and 5K. Held at Emerson Field in Concord, Mass., the Martinez Classic kicks off a 4 p.m.., with a series of community races. The high-performances races start at 6 p.m., beginning with Section B of the men’s 800m.

Former Classical star Maddy Berkson is entered in Section A of the women’s 800m (7:18 p.m.). Back on April 28, the 27-year-old Berkson clocked an all-time best of 2 minutes, 3.16 seconds to place second in the Olympic Development 800m at the Penn Relays Carnival. La Salle Academy alums and ex-teammates Jack Salisbury and Joseph dos Reis are scheduled to answer the gun in Section A of the men’s 1,500m (7:56 p.m.) at the conclusion of the meet. Salisbury, an Olympic Trials qualifier, owns a best of 3:56.22 for the mile and 3:37.18 for the 1,500m, which he did at the NCAA Division 1 prelims last year. Doe Reis dipped under four minutes for teh first time at the BU Terrier Classic this past January with a time of 3:58.34. In April, the Davidson College junior ran a PR of 3:40.52 at the Virginia Challenge.
