The challenging five-kilometer terrain at Thetford Academy was the destination of choice on Saturday for a few of are local squads, who participated at the 32nd annual Woods Trail Run In Vermont.
In the boys’ race, Barrington, Ponaganset and Moses Brown manufactured solid placements in the overall standings. Barrington was sixth among the 42 teams with 199 points. Ponaganset was eighth with 242 points and Moses Brown finished 11th with 323.
Individually, the Eagles’ junior Myles Napolitano was seventh with a time of 17 minutes, 2.28 seconds. The Chieftains’ Jeremy Rose (eighth, 17:02.53) and Owen Klein (tenth, 17:10.22) were also among the top 10. Taking 11th was Moses Brown’s Eli Ziegler at 17:19.83.
Moses Brown and Barrington were fourth and sixth, respectively, in the girls’ competition. The Quakers, who averaged 22:11 by their varsity on the difficult 5K, scored 159 points. The Eagles finished with 247 points.
Moses Brown’s Jay Champlin was the top RI finisher. She clocked 21:27.43, good for 15th overall. Freshmen Evelyn Lefort of Barrington was 23rd (21:51.66) and Moses Brown’s Sophie Clyne was 25th (21:59.61)
