HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Mount St. Charles’ Emmy Belvin & North Smithfield’s Nick Lamoureux

What’s to be expected at a meet like this past weekend’s class championships, we had a plethora of top performances worthy of this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week. For this week’s honor, we chose two of several athletes that found victory more than once inside the PCTA field house. Congratulations to Mount St. Charles’ Emmy Belvin and North Smithfield’s Nick Lamoureux, our respective female and male recipients.

Belvin won two events at the Class C meet, including breaking a record in the mile that has stood for more than two decades. In that event, the Mount senior broke away from St. Raphael Academy’s outstanding senior, Rory Sullivan the final lap to win with a time of 4 minutes, 49.26 seconds, breaking the 2003 mark of 4:50.1 by former Lincoln great Liz (Carlson) Brennen. Belvin came back a short time later to defeat the Saints’ standout again in the 1,000m where she was timed in 3:07.01.

The Northmen’s Lamoureux was at his best, literally, in the Class C meet where he collected 30 points withn a trio of triumphs in the final meet of the day. The NS star matched his all-time best in the high jump by leaping 6 feet, 4 inches. He also captured the 55m dash in 6.71 and the 300m in 36.51 with, you guessed it, PR efforts.
