Top Events To Watch: The javelin features our returning state champion Kai Sorlien of South Kingstown. Sorlien is the top seed with a 186-8 best this season. His top challenge is Lincoln’s Evan Vincenzi, who checks in with a seed of 164-11. Sorlien is also favored in the 110 hurdles with a best of 14.79… Look for a tight battle in the hammer throw with East Greenwich’s Ryan Evans (226-6) and Barrington’s Joe Adams (220-1) expected to duke it out. At Nos. 3 and 4 are Lincoln’s Julian Paroyian (194-7) and Spencer St. Onge (190-3)…The state already has three runners that have broken 49 seconds for the 400m. There’s a chance to add at least one more in this race. Barrington’s Henry Stockwell, the state’s indoor 600m champion and one of our best 800m specialist, will be switching to something a little shorter on Saturday. Stockwell has a listed seed of 50.0, which we feel he is certainly capable of. We’re basing that on his 1:22 speed for the 600m and his indoor PR of 51.53 on the flat oval of the PCTA at the East Coast Invitational. Lincoln’s Finley Stebenne is the two seed. He has a best of 50.96 from his sixth-place finish in this event at last year’s State Meet. He was the Northern Division titlist and ran a season best of 51.40 at the St. Germain Invite…Barrington’s Patrick Trainor, the state’s 55m champion, has a chance to sweep the sprint events. He’s the No. 1 seed in both the 100m (10.77) and the 200m (22.0). In both races, he will be tested. Right behind him in the 100m is Johnston’s Elias Milhouse (10.92). Chariho freshman Anderson Champman (22.33) is the two seed in the 200m…We’re expecting a fast race from Portsmouth’s Sean Gray in the 1,500m. He’s coming off a 4:11 effort from the BSR Elite Meet last Friday. His last hard 1,500m race was a PR of 3:58.19 from the Classical Classic a few weeks ago. We’re expecting another sub-4 from Gray on Saturday. The Virginia-bound senior should have enough time to rest for a competitive 3K where teammate Patrick Orbon (8:44.27) and Barrington’s Brooks Mello (8:51.39) are also on the line. Mello has shown he’s capable of running a lot faster in this race. He ran an all-time best of 8:35.47 at the Yale Track Classic. He also coming off a 4:14 mile from the BSR Elite Meet…Check out the high jump! It’s includes last year’s state titlist Caleb Satisfield versus West Warwick’s Zachary Morgan. Morgan has the top leap in the state at 6-7. Satisfield cleared 6-6 last week to win the Eastern Division Championship and, let’s not forget, he does have a seven-footer on his resume.

Team Outlook: No one’s touching Barrington. The Eagles’ depth is too much from the rest of their competition to handle,. The margin of victory could hit the century mark. Portsmouth, Chariho and Lincoln are among several others that will be fighting for other spots on the podium.

Schools: Barrington, North Providence, West Warwick, Chariho, Lincoln, Tolman, Ponaganset, Mount Hope, Johnston, Portsmouth, Central Falls, East Greenwich, Smithfield, South Kingstown, Shea

Top Events To Watch: The 200m dash could very well come down to the wire. The top three seeds have all gone under 26 seconds with Mount Hope’s Thea Jackson (25.01), Hope’s Zariyah Brown (25.07) and Ponaganset’s Lillian Racine (25.54). The 100m should also be a close one with Jackson (12.7) and Racine (12.39) the top two seeds.. Freshmen could rule the 800m . Four of the top five seeds are ninth-graders, led by Chariho’s Meriden Alge (2:17.7) and Barrington’s Carly Gill (2:19.93)…Don’t miss the meet’s finale – the 4x400m. Barrington hold the top seed with a 4:08.06 best. Ponaganset (4:09.0) and Hope (4:09.10) are right behind with the next two seeds… The hammer features the No. 2 thrower in the country with Barrington’s Cecelia Bizon. The Chieftain sophomore has a PR of 181-0 from the Brian St. Germain Invitational. She’s 15 feet further than her next closest rival, Smithfield’s Emma Reed at 166-0.

Team Outlook: It should be a clean sweep by Barrington. The Eagles could rack up between 140-150 points, which should put them well ahead of their closest rival. East Greenwich, Ponaganset, Mount Hope and Chariho are all teams capable of fighting for the next four spots on the podium, Take your pick on the order. They’re all close.
