New England Championships Up Next For Ocean State’s Best (Entries, Schedule)

The RIIL State Meet is in the books, and now some of Rhode Island’s top athletes are set to test themselves against the best competitors in the region.

That opportunity comes Saturday at the 79th annual New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at Noble High in North Berwick, ME. Field events begin at 9 a.m., with running events scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.

The Ocean State will send a strong contingent to Maine, featuring several athletes with legitimate podium aspirations. Among the favorites are recent girls state champions Lia Wasilewski in the javelin and Amber Shaw in the pole vault, both of whom enter as the No. 1 seeds in their respective events.

Other Rhode Islanders expected to make an impact include Caleb Satisfield and Jalen Moseley in the boys long jump; Abby O’Neil in the girls 800 meters; Francesca Justin and Zariyah Brown in the girls 100 meters; Alyssa Parenteau in the girls 1,500 meters; and Loosaper Tate in the girls long jump. The North Kingstown High School girls 4×800-meter relay, Barrington High School boys 4×800-meter relay, and La Salle Academy boys 4×400-meter relay are also among the state’s top contenders.

Our State Running Team will provide live-stream coverage of the meet from start to finish, complete with commentary. Below are the meet schedule and links to the performance lists.
