Throughout the summer, Ocean State Running will be putting the spotlight on some of the top performances of the outdoor track and field season. While we’ve had our share of showstoppers over the past few months, these are the performances we feel stood out the most.

We’ve said it before, and well say it again. When it comes to our elite athletes, what separates the best from the very best is how they perform when championship time arrives.
Moses Brown’s Skyler Maxwell has shown us that extra gear and tremendous will to get the job done when the pressure is at its highest, particularly over the last few years.
Prior to her final high school season this past spring, the Quaker senior had captured back-to-back 600-meter crowns at the indoor state championships and also used her footspeed as a key leg on three title-winning relay squads.
This past June, Maxwell couldn’t have scripted a better way to put an exclamation point on her outstanding career. In her last State Meet before taking her talents to Boston University in the fall, the Quaker standout earned four gold medals inside Brown Stadium. She won the 400m (54.,65 seconds) and the 200m (24.77) dashes with PR performances. She also was part of the Quakers’ first-place 4x100m (47.99) and 4x400m (3:55.52) relay squads. Her effort in the 400m placed her No. 2 on the state’s all-time list behind celebrated Moses Brown alum Sophia Gorriaran.
