With no in-state competitions this coming weekend, a few of our schools will be on the road, heading to meets like the Shore Coaches Invitational in New Jersey, the Woods Trail Run in Vermont and the Maine Festival of Champions.
Another option – actually, another two options – is just over the border in Massachusetts for teams that haven’t yet made a commitment. This Saturday on the grounds of the Wrentham Developmental Center, the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association (MSTCA) will be hosting a doubleheader with both meets sanctioned for neighboring states, including Rhode Island.
The twinbill with start with the MSTCA Frank Kelley Invitational, beginning at 9 a.m. This meet, which was postponed from this past Saturday because of the nor’easter, features boys’ and girls, Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior/Senior 3K races for Small and Large Schools as well as an Open 5K.
The entry deadline is Tuesday at 8 p.m. All entries must be submitted on athletic.net. No late entries will be accepted. Frank Kelley Invitational Info.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the action will continue under the lights with the Bay State Invitational. This meet features 11 races, including a combined boys’ and girls’ Junior Varsity Novice 3K, a pair of Junior Varsity 5Ks and eight Varsity 5Ks. It’s sanctioned for Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. The entry deadline is Tuesday at 8 p.m. All entries must be submitted on athletic.net.
