It’s that time again.
With the upcoming Injury Fund Relay Carnival on tap on Saturday, Ocean State Running will begin its previews of the indoor track & field season this week. We’ll give it our best shot to let you know who the top athletes and teams will be this winter. From last year, we have four returning champions, including outdoor 100- and 200-meter national champion Lisa Raye of West Warwick, who won three events on the indoor oval at last year’s State Meet with victories in the 55-meter dash, 300m and 55m hurdles . Among other returning titlist are La Salle’s Marshall Vernon (3,000m, 1,500m). Classical’s Gifty Bediako (shot), and Woonsocket’s Adelaide Caron (20-pound weight). Teamwise, Barrington and West Warwick are the defending champions. What will happen there? Will the Raye sisters, Lisa and Xenia, lead the Wizards to their third straight crown? The odds are favorable.
