HOKA Female Athlete Of The Week: LIsa Raye, West Warwick

Throughout the year, Ocean State Running will recognize our top boys’ and girls’ athletes each and every week. Without further adieu, we’d like to once again congratulate West Warwick’s Lisa Raye, who we nominate as the HOKA Female Athlete of the Week.

The Wizards’ Raye continues to make a name for herself whenever she competes and this past weekend was no different. The only difference this time is she’s now a new state record-holder. Just a few hours before winning the 300-meter dash, the freshman phenom broke a six-year state mark in the 55m dash by blasting to a time of 7.06 seconds in the prelims. Raye carried that momentum into the finals where she edged Cranston West’s Ailani Sutherland with a winning time of 7.12. She clocked an all-time best of 39.5 to take the 300m out of the unseeded heat.
