Throughout the year, Ocean State Running will recognize our top boys’ and girls’ athletes each and every week. Without further adieu, we’d like to congratulate Cumberland’s Alyssa Yankee, who we nominate as the HOKA Female Athlete of the Week.
Yankee proved at the Mariner Invitational this past Saturday that she could be a double threat at next month’s State Meet. The Clippers’ versatile senior was a double-winner by taking the shot and the discus. In the shot, she improved on her state-leader with an all-time best of 39 feet, 2 inches. For the discus, Yankee unleashed a winning throw and PR of 124-4, which currently ranks No. 2 statewide.
