As to be expected, the class championships produced a multitude of individuals worthy of this week’s HOKA Athlete of the Week. Based on her improvement at Saturday’s Class A meet and the fact that her effort moved her to No. 1 in the state rankings, our choice for the female recipient of this week’s honor could not be ignored. Congratulations to Woonsocket’s Adelaide Caron, our latest HOKA Athlete of The Week. In only her second year of track & field, the Villa Novan sophomore continues to show great promise in the throwing events, particularly the weight throw and the hammer. On Saturday, Caron had the biggest throw of her young career by capturing the hammer at the Class A’s with a 10-foot best of 167-6. Her effort put her atop the rankings, five inches further than previous leader Jillian Leahy of Lincoln, who held the position since the start of the outdoor season.
