HOKA Male Athlete Of The Week: Brandon Piedade, Barrington

While most of our schools took the weekend off from competition, a couple of our squads hopped on a ferry and Woods Hole and headed off to Martha’s Vineyard for the 16th annual Vineyard X-C Invitational.

Let’s just say the Ocean State had quite the showing at Saturday’s meet. In the five events that were held – a freshmen co-ed 4K and a pair of junior varsity and varsity races – RI athletes claimed four of the six individual titles with frequent participant Barrington earning the boys’ varsity team title.

For this week’s male recipient of the HOKA Athlete of the Week, it proved to be no-brainer. Congratulations to Brandon Piedade of Barrington, a unanimous choice for this week’s honor. After dealing with some health issues for most of his junior year, Piedade got the confidence-booster he needed this fall at the Vineyard Invite. The Eagles’ senior captured his second straight crown with a strong 16 minutes, 12.0 seconds for the 5K course.
