The competitive portion of the outdoor track & field season officially got its start this past weekend t Conley Stadium with the Knights of Columbus 4xMile Relays. After a brief hiatus, the 55th annual event also brings back our HOKA Athlete of the Week for the final season of the 2022-23 school year, a weekly features that recognizes the top male and female athletes.
For this week’s honor, we’d like to congratulate Lincoln’s Jillian Leahy, who we nominate as the HOKA Female Athlete of the Week. The Lions senior was the winner of the girls’ hammer throw with a heave of 150 feet, 1 inch. The performance by Leahy at Saturday’s meet ranks No. 3 in the country. It also continues the strong momentum she created during the indoor season where she was our state and New England titlist as well as All American at the New Balance Nationals where she placed second overall.
